Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig in September 21, 1983. She is an American actor best known for her character Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Born in Worthington Ohio, she quit high school and moved into Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. She was struggling to make ends meet at the time she landed her first role in acting in Rachel's Room's leading character. Following her win of a Young Artist Award in 2002 for her portrayal of Murder In Greenwich of a 15-year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace was able to take home the award. Grace played Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. She was the main protagonist for two seasons and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award. The show ended in 2005 and Grace would like to be more prominently in film having been cast as the opposite of Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) as Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised the role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to Shannon's character as Shannon in Lost for two additional episodes. This included the final episode of the series. Grace was a part of the show's sixth season, which aired from 2013 until 2014. The actress plays Faith a groupie and an muse for the stars that catches the interest of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The first time she appeared in films of her father in his adolescent years. With her brother, she also appeared on the screen in Donnie Darko (2000). She appeared next in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002, erotic romantic drama), and Sherrybaby (606) and Sherrybaby (606) of which earned her Golden Globe Award nods. She gained wider recognition when she portrayed Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) due to the success of several commercial films she starred in the year 2006. In the film, her performance as Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent received her a nomination for the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. The roles she played in subsequent films include Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang and Hysteria. Apart from her character as a Secret Service agent, she also appeared as a character in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). Her latest roles included the protagonist of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The thriller that dealt with psychological issues was awarded the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to The Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
